I'm not a fan of strong scented candles with fake scents. Try essential oils for your bedroom. I'm a huge fan of Molton Brown fragrances. Try a room spray and scented candle, Ylang Ylang & Linen Mist is a great choice
3. Buy something vintage
Every room could so with something vintage. Etsy is THE place to head to browse, I buy lots of one off artwork at Etsy. We all have something from Ikea, and that's fine, you just have to balance it out! Try browsing the Home & Living section
4. Personalise your wall art
Select or take family photos for your bedroom. Silver frames look lovely on a bedside table. Check these out
5. Light Light Light
Avoid your ceiling pendant light being your only light, make it more decorative and then scatter table lamps instead, make them classic with a calm tone shade
6. De-clutter your bedside table
Your bedside table should be an oasis of calm. If you don't have one, think about what you need, extra storage? space saving? Try Swoon Editions for a great variety of styles
7. Buy an occassional chair you LOVE
This could be a family hand me down or a great antique find. Just make sure it's something which makes you smile, even if you do throw your jeans on it!!
8. Try to go tech-free
We've all read enough about the importance of leaving your phone alone at bedtime. Switch off your phone, no tv in bed, no iPad...create zen!
9. Buy an alarm
So with a tech-free room in mind, go old school and buy an alarm. Also a great purchase for your guest room.
10. Be calm
Whether it's in the colour scheme, the accessories or the lighting, when you are putting together or updating your room, this room should be all about creating calm. Don't try to 'jazz' things up, don't experiment with bright colours, keep it calm and neutral.
