This recipe uses cheaper cuts of beef, ask your butcher for some really tasty beef stewing steak. This will need 3 hours to cook, so either make it the day before or on the morning and leave to rest!
In the south of France, this daube is served with tagliatelle pasta, so buy some good quality egg pasta. No need for fresh, good quality dried egg pasta works great!
Don't forget you must mix the sauce with the cooked pasta fresh from the pan, never ever serve plain pasta with some sauce on top, mix it in first and then add the beef on top! My Italian grandmother would turn in her grave!

Lemon curd mousse
This dessert takes no time at all and is light as feather! Make in advance on the day and keep fresh and served in glasses in the fridge until pudding time! This recipe doesn't use gelatine, so again it's a vegetarian friendly one.
Serve with thin sweet biscuits of your choice and champagne!
