Even if Bonfire night has passed (hopefully without event) that doesn't mean we can't continue to enjoy entertaining outside.
Who doesn't love to wrap up warm, put on those thick winter socks, a poloneck, double up your coats and dust off your wolly hats! Huddle around an open fire, get a really warm face but a chilly back. No phones, no tv, just chatting with friends and enjoy some alfresco dining.
Fire pits aren't just for summer entertaining. But if you can't stretch to a fire pit, we absolutley love Swedish Fire Torches! Perfect for outside parties, they burn for a couple of hours and look very dramatic!
You can do this at home or buy from your garden centre. If you are handy or you know someone who is, you will want to watch this video about how to make one, click here
Alternatively, John Lewis are one of the few retailers to keep stock of fire pits during the winter months. Click here to see the collection.
And once you have organised all your fire equipment you'll be needing a drink, warm spiced apple cider springs to mind!
Try this recipe:
1 litre/35fl oz cider
4 tbsp honey
1 orange, peel only
2 cinnamon sticks
small handful of whole cloves
2 tsp ground allspice
generous splash of Somerset Cider Brandy
Put all ingredients into a saucepan, heat gently and stir occasionally for around 15 minutes (do not boil).
When hot, strain into heatproof cups (leaving the flavourings in if you want) and enjoy.
Enjoy the winter arriving, it's going to be a cold one!
